Addiction is about craving
We crave to have things other
than they are. We often feel that life is unsatisfactory, and so develop
strategies to avoid this feeling of dissatisfaction. Often these strategies
lead to unskillful behavior. For example, we become addicted to drugs, alcohol,
food, or shopping in an attempt to find true happiness.
How mindfulness helpsThrough developing a
sense of mindfulness, we can increase non-judgmental awareness in our
day-to-day lives. Mindfulness develops our potential to experience each moment,
no matter how difficult or intense, with serenity and clarity. Participants
learn life-long tools to help maximize life, even in the midst of stress, pain,
and difficulty, so they may live free from addiction.
